Gophers’ All-American free safety candidate Tyler Nubin wasn’t even the best player in his family in a 27-12 win over Michigan State on Saturday.Backup running back Jordan Nubin — a former walk-on defensive back — had a breakout game with 204 yards on 40 carries at Huntington Bank StadiumWhen Jordan scored an 18-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter, Tyler greeted his younger brother with a hug before he reached the sideline. Jordan added a second touchdown late in the fourth quarter, and Tyler was right there again to celebrate. The Gophers (5-3, 3-2 Big Ten) were touchdown betting favorite, but needed to overcome three turnovers to win. The Spartans (2-6, 0-6) have lost six straight games under interim head coach Harlon Barnett.Jordan Nubin came into the season as a fifth-stringer and was playing due to injuries with three other tailbacks — Darius Taylor, Zach Evans and Bryce Williams. WASHINGTON — The Wild need points from their top line, and frankly they’re getting them. Ryan Hartman has a team-high five goals, and he, Kirill Kaprizov and Mats Zuccarello have combined for a team-high nine goals and 26 points. But the Wild are getting something else from the top line, turnovers.Kaprizov opened the floodgates in a 6-2 loss at Philadelphia on Thursday with a key giveaway at the Flyers’ blue line, which led to a breakaway goal by the Flyers’ Owen Tippett and killed the momentum Minnesota had built by pulling within 3-2 with two quick goals to start the third period.“I made some mistakes, and of course I think our line as a whole (needs) to get better,” Kaprizov said through an interpreter on Friday. “I need to get better, and that’s what we’re going to continue to do, continue to work and improve and play better as a line.”Heading into a road-trip finale at New Jersey on Sunday, the Wild had 73 team giveaways, third most in the NHL. Hartman and Kaprizov each have eig...George Harrison's long-lasting impact on southern Illinois

BENTON, Ill. - Nearly six decades have passed since The Beatles first stepped foot in America, but one of their own enjoyed a sneak peek of the states months before his close comrades. That included a brief, yet monumental trip to southern Illinois. In 1963, The Beatles released their first two studio albums and several chart-topping singles to critical acclaim, and it was only a matter of time until they ventured full force to the United States. The Beatles agreed to a small break in September in which all four band members planned to travel, recharge, and learn more about life away from their England roots. Lead guitarist George Harrison ended up in southern Illinois for several days. Archives from BeatlesBible.com note that he flew into New York and caught a connecting flight to St. Louis before a roughly hour-and-a-half car ride to southern Illinois. ‘On Fire’ film shooting in St. Louis links hope and baseball At the time, Harrison's sister, Louise, had recently moved to Bent...AP Sources: United Auto Workers and Stellantis reach tentative contract that follows model Ford set

DETROIT (AP) — Jeep maker Stellantis has reached a tentative contract agreement with the United Auto Workers union that follows a template set earlier this week by Ford, two people with knowledge of the negotiations said Saturday. The deal, which must still be ratified by members, leaves only General Motors without a contract with the union. The agreement could end a six-week strike by more than 14,000 workers at Stellantis assembly plants in Michigan and Ohio, and at parts warehouses across the nation.Like workers at Ford, the strikers at Stellantis are expected to take down their picket lines and begin returning to work in the coming days, before 43,000 union members vote. The people, who asked not to be identified because they are not authorized to speak publicly about the talks, said most of the main points of the deal at Ford will carry over to Stellantis. The Ford pact includes 25% in general wage increases over the next 4 1/2 years for top assembly plant workers, with 11% coming...U.S. 6 closed from Golden to Idaho Springs

The start of Saturday’s Pac-12 matchup between the University of Southern California and UC Berkeley was briefly delayed due to a pre-game demonstration. Footage posted to social media shows the group of about 15 people – presumably students – sitting at midfield of Memorial Stadium in Berkeley. According to Sports Illustrated, the group ran onto the field shortly after the coin toss and remained seated at midfield as security guards and police surrounded them without making any moves. Parents outraged after video shows son being hazed in high school locker room The demonstrators were seated on the field for about 12 minutes before being led off in handcuffs, Sports Illustrated said, all while players on both teams watched curiously and continued their warmups. It is unknown what they were protesting about, but according to college sports analysis company On3, the demonstration may have been in response to UC Berkeley suspending a professor for reportedly stalking a...Cal-USC football game delayed by protest calling for reinstatement of UC Berkeley professor
