Colorado’s airports must transition quickly to offering only unleaded gas to help protect children living nearby from the devastating effects of lead poisoning.Lead is particularly harmful to infants and children. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, even low levels of lead exposure can damage a child’s brain and nervous system as it develops, slow growth and development, and cause hearing and speech problems.The Denver Post’s John Aguilar reported Sunday that a recent Colorado State University study that found dangerously elevated lead levels in the blood of children living within a half mile of regional airports in California prompted Santa Clara County to ban the sale of leaded gasoline.The county likely acted so quickly because the study, conducted by CSU economics professor Sammy Zahran and his team at Mountain Data Group, found the lead levels in the blood of 13,000 children near Reid-Hillview Airport were as bad as what children suffered in Flint, Mich...Tracking the Rockies’ picks on Day 3 of the MLB Draft

Two boys in Michigan are being hailed as heroes for rescuing a 7-year-old who was drowning at the bottom of a pool. The incident occurred in Fenton on June 20, according to the Genesee County Sheriff's Office. Two men were rescued over the weekend after becoming stuck while climbing Big Falls in the San Bernardino National Forest, officials said Tuesday.The climbers became stuck around 4:15 p.m. Sunday and were able to use their cellphones to alert the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.A patrol deputy and two sheriff’s helicopters responded to the scene and quickly located the men, identified as Tyler Williams, 31, of Riverside, and Kenny Acevedo, 31, of Highland.The rescuers determined a hoist operation would be required.The helicopter crew lowered a rescue medic onto the “narrow, rocky ridge” then both men were placed into the rescue harness, hoisted up to the helicopter and flown to a landing area where other deputies were staged, officials said.“The Sheriff's Department urges caution and heightened awareness for those engaging in climbing activities in the Big Falls area. One Victim Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Collision near Tully RoadSAN JOSE, CA (July 11, 2023) – Late Saturday night, one victim was pronounced dead after a pedestrian accident on Highway 101.The incident happened around 11:37 p.m., on the northbound lanes of Highway 101 near Tully Road.
