AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Tropical Storm Harold made landfall on Padre Island, Texas at 10 a.m. Tuesday with winds of 50 mph. Harold has since been downgraded to a tropical depression as it weakens over land.Flooding rainfall amounts of up to 7 inches are possible along the South Texas coast inland toward the Rio Grande Valley. AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Following 45-consecutive days at or above 100 degrees, afternoon downpours from Tropical Storm Harold broke Austin's extended stretch of triple-digit heat.Afternoon highs at Camp Mabry rose to 99 degrees Tuesday before rain bands on the north side of the decaying tropical storm raced through our area. AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The City of Austin's Transportation and Public Works Department is on track to launch its yearlong Barton Springs Road safety pilot this fall, as city crews continue modifications to the roadway.Back in June, city officials proposed the one-year safety pilot as a means to help curtail serious injuries and fatalities along the roadway as a result of traffic crashes. It came just over a year after an April 2022 vehicle crash along the road resulted in 10 people seriously injured. ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)--Over the past few weeks, state and local leaders have been voicing their concerns about the DocGo. The New York Attorney General’s Office is now investigating the company— something Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara has called for after asylees first arrived in his district."We heard from the Attorney General’s Office yesterday that they were going to launch an investigation into DocGo into the situation at the Super 8 Motel in the Town of Rotterdam," said Santabarbara. "I’ve been calling for an investigation since that happened because of just the chaotic and unfair situation that unfolded there. NORTH HUDSON, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- On August 16, nine Forest Rangers from the Department of Environmental Conservation conducted a wilderness rescue on the Dix Range. Three hikers were reported missing when they failed to meet the rest of their hiking party at the Slide Brook lean-to the night before. Get the latest news, weather, sports and entertainment delivered right to your inbox! The missing individuals were well-trained hikers with headlamps, food, water, a map, and a compass. Ranger Savarie determined the hikers spent the night at the Lillian Brook lean-to. The hikers left a note saying they were unsure which way to go on the trail. They also wrote that they would attempt to bushwhack toward the water. LOUIS - A Bel Ridge man appeared in federal court on Tuesday and admitted stealing cigarettes or cash from local QuikTrip stores on five occasions.Prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Missouri said Terrence Gleason, 52, robbed three stores while brandishing or indicating he had a firearm.The robberies happened between Dec. 5, 2021, and Dec. 12, 2021, at the following stores:QuikTrip located at 9099 Natural Bridge in Bel Ridge (three separate times)QuikTrip located at 5909 Howdershell in HazelwoodQuikTrip located at 11150 St. Charles Rock Road in St. AnnGleason pleaded guilty to three robbery charges and two counts of possessing and brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.Gleason will be sentenced on Jan. 25, 2024. SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — Missouri’s Republican Attorney General Andrew Bailey and the families of transgender children are in court this week fighting over whether a new law banning minors from receiving gender-affirming health care will take effect as scheduled Monday.Lawyers last month sued to overturn the law on behalf of three families of transgender minors, doctors and two LGBTQ+ organizations. They asked a county judge to temporarily block the law as the court challenge against it plays out.Hearings over pausing the law are taking place this week in Springfield. His wife, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, was in town to perform at the Dome at the America's Center in Downtown St. Louis.The couple recently purchased a $200 million oceanfront mansion in Malibu designed by world-renowned architect Tadao Ando. A new poll released Tuesday by Adam Frisch’s congressional campaign shows the former Aspen city councilman narrowly leading U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert in one of the most closely watched House races in the country — the first time the Democrat has held an edge over his GOP nemesis.The poll, conducted this month by Keating Research among 801 3rd Congressional District residents likely to vote next year, shows Frisch with a 50% to 48% lead. Because the poll has a margin of error of +/- 3.5%, president and founder Chris Keating conceded that the results signify, for all intents and purposes, a tie.But the trajectory for Frisch, Keating said, is going the right way.
