The FBI is investigating a white South Carolina couple for racial discrimination after they set a cross on fire in their yard last month facing toward their Black neighbors’ home.Federal civil rights investigators searched the white couple’s home in Conway on Wednesday, according to FBI spokesperson Kevin Wheeler. The retired Black couple also recorded video of the cross being burned on Thanksgiving weekend and described days of repeated threats from their neighbors. The next week, Worden Evander Butler, 28, and Alexis Paige Hartnett, 27, were arrested on state charges of harassment and later released on bond.Cross burnings in the U.S. are “symbols of hate” that are “inextricably intertwined with the history of the Ku Klux Klan,” according to a 2003 U.S. Supreme Court decision written by the late Justice Sandra Day O’Connor. GLENVIEW, Ill. — Four individuals face first-degree murder charges for their involvement in a deadly Glenview apartment complex shooting in August.According to the Cook County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the 14000 block of Michael Todd Terrace in Glenview on reports of shots fired just after 9 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19.Upon arrival, authorities discovered 16-year-old Jose Guzman-Ezquivel and 19-year-old Carlos Guzman-Ezquivel, who had been shot multiple times.Jose was pronounced dead at the scene, while Carlos was transported to a local hospital, where he later died. WARREN, Ohio (WJW) — A 33-year-old Ohio woman arrested on a felony charge after having a miscarriage at her home in September is working to clear her name and deal with the tragic outcome of her pregnancy.“I was distraught, heartbroken, empty — literally and figuratively, so to speak,” Brittany Watts said in a text message to the I-Team at Nexstar's WJW Monday night. She was describing how she felt after she miscarried her pregnancy.Watts sought medical treatment at Mercy Health St. Joseph Warren Hospital, located about 60 miles east of Cleveland, during the third week of September. She was having severe cramping and bleeding.“She was told very clearly the fetus was not viable and could not and would not survive,” said attorney Traci Timko, who represents Watts.Watts was admitted to the hospital twice that week but left after waiting in a room for several hours. (WJET/WFXP) — A space phenomenon is spreading some holiday cheer with what looks like a Christmas tree in the stars.NASA said that a telescope captured an image of NGC 2264, which is a cluster of young stars aged between one and five million years old. NGC 2264 — also known as the "Christmas Tree Cluster" since it looks like a cosmic tree with strings of glowing lights — can be found in the Milk Way, about 2,500 light-years from Earth.
