Police investigate fatal car crash in Colonie

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Police are investigating a fatal single car crash that happened on Sunday morning in Colonie which resulted in the death of the driver. The fatality happened after the vehicle veered off New Loudon Road near Boght Road. Colonie EMS responded, but the driver, Zacharie Lecuyer, 36, of Altamont, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The vehicle, a 2022 Subaru, was headed south on New Loudon Road when it reportedly crossed over the median lane, through the northbound lanes and onto the grassy shoulder. According to police, the car struck a street sign, a driveway embankment and a tree before coming to a stop in the yard of 1121 New Loudon Road, damaging the property. Authorities are searching for a suspect after a teenager was shot and killed outside of a party in the Manchester Square neighborhood of South Los Angeles. According to LAPD, a shots fired call came in around 11:45 p.m. Saturday evening from the area of 74th Street and Western Avenue. When officers arrived on scene, they discovered a 16-year-old Black male lying dead on the sidewalk in front of homes on 74th Street east of Western Avenue. Preliminary reports suggest that organizers of a high school flyer party at a rental hall on Western Avenue were charging a cover charge to get in, and that the teen was walking away from the party when he was shot and killed. A four-alarm fire broke out and destroyed a construction site in San Gabriel early Sunday morning. Firefighters were dispatched to the 400 block of East Valley Boulevard around 3:30 a.m., according to a Verdugo Fire Department spokesperson. Road safety grantThe transportation division of Cupertino’s Public Works Department has been awarded a $3.2 million Highway Safety Improvement Program grant to make safety improvements along 15 roadway corridors in the city. These corridors include segments of De Anza Boulevard; Homestead, Wolfe, Bollinger, McClellan, Stelling and Bubb roads; Mariani, Mary, Tantau, Miller and Blaney avenues; and Rainbow, Valley Green and Calvert drives.Safety improvements include striping enhancements, high-friction surface treatments and radar speed feedback signs. These improvements are intended to reduce unsafe speed violations and rear-end collisions along the corridors. The grant funding covers 90% of the estimated total project cost of $3.56 million.
