Santa Clara County to update expired hazard management plan

After one of California’s stormiest winters in recent memory downed power lines and trees, Santa Clara County is updating its plan to keep damage from storms and other natural disasters to a minimum.The county’s Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan, which expired in 2022, helps access federal funding for projects like earthquake retrofitting and vegetation management to control the spread of wildfires. The collaborative effort across several cities and organizations also helps to identify safety risks in a region and set a game plan of how to minimize or manage those risks. It is facilitated by the county’s office of emergency management.“Prevention measures seek to eliminate hazards or our susceptibility to them. (KRON) -- A 21-year-old man was shot and killed at a Concord strip mall on Tuesday, KRON4 has confirmed. The family of the deceased confirmed the killing but have asked for privacy as they console one another. The Concord Police Department confirmed that at approximately 9:48 a.m., they received a call regarding gunshots heard in the area of Solano Way and Broadmoor Avenue.Concord police have arrested Haley Sparks Hadsell, 19, of Martinez, and identified a second suspect as Sione "Ono" Amanaki, a 20-year-old man from Concord. Police said Amanaki knows he is wanted for the killing and may be hiding out in Oakland. When officers arrived on the scene, they located two people suffering from gunshot wounds. One person was pronounced deceased at the scene and the other was transported to the hospital, police said.The name of the man who died was not immediately available, and police did not release any details about what led up to the shooting. (BCN) -- Police are asking the public for assistance finding the driver of a Chevrolet Camaro involved in a hit-and-run Thursday in Petaluma. In a news release issued late Tuesday night by the Petaluma Police Department, police said officers responded to a 1 p.m. report of a vehicle hitting a retaining wall of a home in the 1500 block of Colwood Drive. Witnesses told police the Camaro ran into the retaining wall and fled east on Colwood Drive. Surveillance video from the area confirmed the vehicle's make and model. Police followed a trail of dark liquid to Crinella Drive and found the vehicle abandoned on Parent Way with front-end damage. COLUMBIA, S.C.
