Burnet County's Wandering Oak Fire reaches 22 acres, 95% contained

Editor’s note: The above video is from KXAN’s wildfire coverage on Thursday, August 3, 2023.BURNET COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) -- A wildfire in Burnet County that started Wednesday is 95% contained, the Texas A&M Forest Service said on X formerly known as Twitter.The Wandering Oak Fire spread to an estimated 22 acres as of Thursday afternoon. The forest service said no structures have been lost from the fire.A containment line has been built around the perimeter of the fire. Kowalski’s employees have officially ratified a new contract after calling for a three-day strike if their requests were not heard.On Wednesday, more than 600 Kowalski’s employees across six different markets in Eagan and the west metro voted to ratify a two-year contract that provides raises, pay equity and secures retirement, according to a news release from United Food and Commercial Workers Local 663, a union that represents more than 17,000 workers in Minnesota.“I’m excited we secured pay equity for all union employees, because it allows the work environment to feel more fair and just, and that’s important to me,” said Aidan Lindon, deli specialist at Eden Prairie Kowalski’s, in the release.Per the release, the new contract stipulates that union members at Kowalski’s will receive raises from $2 to $4 an hour by the spring of 2025. NYS Senator James Tedisco is taking steps to help children with language barriers adjust to New York. Court records show Xaviar Michael Babudar will have a first appearance in Kansas City federal court at 3 p.m. Friday. A police officer in Ventura shot and killed a dog that was off leash and apparently had tried to bite him early Thursday, authorities said.The incident occurred around 4 a.m. while officers was on routine patrol along Ash Street.The dog was not leashed and “immediately headed toward” the direction of the officers, police detailed in a news release.“As the dog approached one of the officers, it circled behind him, and attempted to bite him.
