HONOLULU (AP) — Ken Potts, one of the last two remaining survivors of the USS Arizona battleship, which sank during the 1941 Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, has died. He was 102. Howard Kenton Potts died Friday at the home in Provo, Utah, that he shared with his wife of 66 years, according to Randy Stratton, whose late father, Donald Stratton, was Potts’ Arizona shipmate and close friend. Stratton said Potts “had all his marbles” but lately was having a hard time getting out of bed. When Stratton spoke to Potts on his birthday, April 15, he was happy to have made it to 102. “But he knew that his body was kind of shutting down on him, and he was just hoping that he could get better but (it) turned out not,” Stratton said. Potts was born and raised in Honey Bend, Illinois, and enlisted in the Navy in 1939. A shooting outside a popular nightclub in Hollywood sent at least one person to the hospital early Saturday morning. Police confirmed they received reports of gunshots heard outside the Next Door Lounge at Highland and Lexington avenues around 12:45 a.m. Officers were able to clear the establishment and found no victims, but they did say that one person arrived at a nearby hospital with at least one gunshot wound. That victim, a 30-year-old man, is in stable condition, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. OAKLAND — Police are investigating two shootings mid-day Saturday that left two men injured.The shootings are not related, police said. In the first, the man was the victim of a drive-by shooting that was reported at 11:02 a.m. in the area of Eades Avenue and Hegenberger Road, near Interstate 880.Police say the man was walking in the 8400 block of Eades Avenue, when someone in a car opened fire, hitting him multiple times. The car fled the scene, while the man was taken to a hospital, where he was in critical but stable condition.A little over an hour later, a man was wounded in a shooting in the 1600 block of 35th Avenue in the Fruitvale District. (KRON) -- A person was robbed of their Rolex watch and hit in the face with a firearm in a parking garage in Downtown Walnut Creek on Friday night, The Walnut Creek Police Department said.
