Even Rule 5 draft is dull for SF Giants, most other teams as MLB Winter Meetings come to a close NASHVILLE, Tenn. — So dull these MLB Winter Meetings were for the Giants and most every other team, that even the Rule 5 draft came and went Wednesday without San Francisco or two-thirds of the league making a selection.As Farhan Zaidi and his team of lieutenants departed the Music City, they left town with Giants’ 40-man roster unchanged from when they arrived.Only 10 players were selected in the major-league portion of the Rule 5 draft, the fewest since 2013.Picking 13th, the Giants passed on their selection for the first time under Zaidi. Map: Where 6 affordable apartment complexes will be built in the South Bay A vote Tuesday by the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors approved funding for six affordable housing complexes, in San Jose, Mountain View and Palo Alto.The projects, providing 716 units, will cost $47.4 million. 'The Fuse' pleads guilty for violent Palo Alto arrest (KRON) -- A former Palo Alto police sergeant nicknamed "The Fuse" is taking court-ordered anger management classes and LGBTQ sensitivity training this winter after pleading guilty to assault. Wayne Benitez, 66, pleaded guilty last month for assaulting a man he arrested at Buena Vista Mobile Home Park on Feb. 17, 2018. The sergeant and other officers had gone to the mobile home park to arrest a man suspected of driving without a driver's license. The sergeant "slammed the face of a handcuffed arrestee against the windshield of the arrestee’s car," the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office wrote. Benitez was known amongst his police colleagues as "The Fuse," apparently for having a short temper. He has since retired from the Palo Alto Police Department. Benitez pleaded guilty on November 21.
