Published Fri, 15 Nov 2024 07:49:20 GMT
If there was one word to describe your favorite NFL team’s stadium, would it be “bougie?” According to Merriam-Webster, “bougie” (pronounced boo-gee and alternatively spelled "boujee") is defined as “marked by a concern for wealth, possessions and respectability.” As it turns out, every professional football stadium has a certain “bougie score,” according to new research by online gaming experts at Casino.org. New study shows which days Lakers and Clippers are most likely to win Researchers used several metrics to come to their conclusion on the "bougiest" stadium, including stadium capacity, the number of luxury suites, how many bathrooms and concession stands are in the stadium and the overall cost of construction. Each stadium was given a score between 0 and 100, with 100 being the most "bougie." Based on their findings, L.A.’s very own SoFi Stadium came out with a weighted “bougie score” of 100. Beyonce makes surprise appearance at Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour film premiere The film follows the tour, provides behind-the-scenes moments and features commentary by Queen Bey.The 32-time Grammy winner wrote, produced and directed the film herself."Were 'Renaissance' the movie simply a recording of the show, it’d be a treat in itself. By weaving in behind-the-scenes footage and interviews that reveal where 'Renaissance' came from and how it got to be here, Beyoncé serves up a fully satisfying meal," wrote Angie Han from The Hollywood Reporter.Han did have this critique: "Less effective are the occasional instances when Beyoncé resorts to cliché and metaphor to express the more nebulous ideas propelling her forward. By Colleen Long | Associated PressWASHINGTON — President Joe Biden plans to skip the annual climate talks in Dubai this week, an event that is expected to draw heads of state and diplomats from roughly 200 nations and the Vatican. He has attended twice before. The White House said it was sending a climate team, including Special Envoy John Kerry, climate adviser Ali Zaidi and clean energy adviser John Podesta.“Although we don’t have any travel updates to share for the president at this time, the administration looks forward to a robust and productive COP28,” said White House spokesman Angelo Fernández Hernández, adding that Biden’s team would continue to build on the administration actions “to tackle the climate crisis.”Biden had also pledged to visit Africa before the end of the year, but that trip doesn’t appear to be happening, either. The White House offered no reasons, but the president has been deeply engaged in both the war in Ukraine ...Holidays 2023: 10 Bay Area ‘Nutcrackers’ and other dances to catch

As the stain of violence convulses the Holy Land, the innocence and playfulness of the conflict at the center of “The Nutcracker” provides the seasonal diversion we need. The holiday staple, which unfolds during and after a party Christmas Eve, is indestructible and supremely malleable, delivering the fundamental pleasures of ballet whether set in Vienna, San Francisco, San Jose, London, or a small German town (where the original E.T.A. Hoffmann short story “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King” takes place). There are more than a dozen “Nutcracker” productions in the Bay Area alone this year, and the one thing they all have in common is some version of Tchaikovsky’s enchanting score. More than a cultural experience, “The Nutcracker” has taken on a singular role as a holiday tradition for families, a vivid introduction to dance and classical music for children, and an economic lifeline for dance companies large and small. It’s not the only seasonal dance mainstay but it’s ballet’s winter...Sale closed in Palo Alto: $7.6 million for a six-bedroom home

With excerpts and reviews emerging for “Endgame,” the explosive new royal expose, it’s becoming clear why Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have tried, not too successfully, to distance themselves from author Omid Scobie, the journalist who has been described as their “friendly biographer,” or even their “cheerleader, crusader and chum.”As the New York Times review said, Scobie has done Meghan and Harry “no favors” in his efforts to portray them in the most glowing light possible. But his portrait, critics suggest, is rather shallow, one-sided and not always effective. As the Times said, Scobie devotes much of his book to “setting the record straight on petty slights” made against the California-based couple by Harry’s royal relatives or by the U.K. media. In just one example of clumsy score settling, Scobie tried to defend the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s controversial use of private jets in a splashy intervi...Latest news
