TORONTO — Workers at a trio of major automakers have voted overwhelmingly in favour of allowing their union to call a strike if bargaining committees can’t secure new collective agreements in the coming months. Unifor, Canada’s largest private-sector union, says its members at Ford Motor Company, General Motors and Stellantis all voted between 98 and 99 per cent in favour of the strike mandate. The vote took place over the weekend amid a pause in bargaining talks. The current batch of collective agreements, which cover 18,000 workers at the “Detroit Three” automakers, are set to expire before midnight on Sept. 18.The results mirror a strike mandate handed down by members of the U.S.-based United Auto Workers union on Friday, who are negotiating with the trio of automakers at the same time.Unifor National President Lana Payne issued a release saying the union’s bargaining teams are set to resume talks with support from members across the auto sector and a...Highland Park man dies, ID'd after crashing bike in northern suburbs

AUSTIN (KXAN) — While we've talked about ENSO (El Niño Southern Oscillation) at length over the past year, there's another player in our weather that we're watching this year...PDO.PDO stands for Pacific Decadal Oscillation and it can influence the amount of precipitation we get in Central Texas.Pacific Decadal OscillationThe Pacific Decadal Oscillation is quantified by a number that represents three things:The strength of the Aleutian Low;Kuroshiro Current: Ocean current that changes over the course of decades; andThe reemergence of pre-summer water temperature anomalies.Pacific Ocean sea surface temperature anomalies (Blue is colder than normal)Why do we care?As we've told you there's a relationship between ENSO and rain here in Central Texas. When ENSO is positive (El Niño phase) we get more rain. Well, there's a rain relationship with PDO too. The more positive PDO is, the wetter our weather is. The more negative PDO is, the less rain we see.PDO/ENSO and Precipitation (NOAA/Clim...Twins walk it off — literally — in 13-inning marathon win over Rangers

It’s pretty clear how Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell looks at the preseason. Though he sees some value in exhibition games, O’Connell would rather eat his hat than play his starters in a game that doesn’t count. That was on display when the Vikings hosted the Arizona Cardinals in the preseason finale Saturday at U.S. Bank Stadium. The Vikings had more than 40 players on the sideline without pads, including starting quarterback Kirk Cousins, receiver Justin Jefferson, pass rusher Danielle Hunter and safety Harrison Smith, among so many others. The lack of star power throughout the preseason games did give some young players on the roster a chance to shine. Here’s a look at whose stock is up and whose stock is down ahead of cutdown day this week.UpJaren Hall (quarterback): Though he’s buried behind Cousins and backup Nick Mullens on the depth chart, Hall still seems to have the inside track at making the 53-man roster.
