AUSTIN (KXAN) -- You may recognize the names of Austin FC's honorary mascots for the Verde's Wednesday match. Ted Lasso, Rebecca Welton, Roy Kent and Jamie Tartt are 8-week old shepherd mix puppies from Austin Pets Alive! and will serve as the honorary mascots for Austin FC's match against Minnesota United FC.Roy Kent, a shepherd mix puppy from Austin Pets Alive! is one of four puppies named after 'Ted Lasso' characters who will be Austin FC's honorary mascots on May 31, 2023. A Minneapolis author’s debut novel has been selected as Good Morning America’s book club pick for June.“Ink Blood Sister Scribe,” a fantastical page-turner by Emma Törzs, was also the subject of a bidding war by publishers. ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Shaun M. Somers, 44, is facing charges of grand larceny in the third degree and criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree. New York State Police arrested Somers following an investigation into a report of a stolen vehicle on Tuesday morning. The victim witnessed Somers get in the car and drive away. The vehicle was located unoccupied on Green Street with some personal belongings missing. HUDSON, N.Y. (NEWS10) - Connecting two communities, the Hudson-Athens Lighthouse has been a symbol of the region for almost 150 years. While its future is uncertain, a beacon of hope remains as one group works to restore and protect the beloved landmark. Off the Beaten Path: Moto Coffee Machine The lighthouse was completed in 1874. To this day, the lighthouse remains an aide to navigation. The U.S. Coast Guard is responsible for maintaining its beacon.Starting on June 17, scheduled tours of the lighthouse will resume and depart from Hudson Riverfront Park and Athens Riverfront Park. ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - One man died overnight after a crash on Interstate 270 in north St. Louis County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. MSHP reports that David Simmons, 28, died in the crash. Next of kin have been notified. The crash happened around 2 a.m. Wednesday on I-270 near New Halls Ferry Road. A woman who activated the emergency slide to flee a dispute on an airliner has been convicted of simple assault, federal prosecutors said.The incident happened on April 19, 2022, at Buffalo Niagara International Airport, aboard an American Airlines jet preparing to depart for Chicago, said the announcement Friday from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of New York.A passenger described as “unruly” — Cynthia McKnight, 24 — had reportedly ignored a request by a flight attendant to stop using her phone. The dispute escalated to involve other passengers, and McKnight spat on one of them.As the plane began returning to the gate so McKnight could be removed, she opened a cabin door and left by way of the emergency slide that deployed, then ran across the tarmac, the prosecutors said.
