THE BRONX, N.Y. (WPIX) – A New York City man is accused of brutally killing his ex-girlfriend’s dog during a fight in her Bronx apartment, the district attorney’s office said Thursday.Victor Castillo, 32, allegedly picked up the 7-year-old Pomeranian, named Ken-Shin, by the neck and slammed the dog’s head into a coffee table during an argument with his ex at her home on Feb. 9, according to the district attorney’s office. AUSTIN (KXAN) — The price to park at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is set to increase beginning Tuesday.According to the airport, the price increase would affect economy parking, as well as the blue and red parking garages. The daily price for each would be increased by $2.The Airport did not specify if the rate change would impact the hourly parking costs.The current prices are:Economy Parking: $10 / DAYBlue Garage: $17 / DAYRed Garage: $27 / DAYThe price increases are scheduled to take effect at midnight April 18 and are as follows:Economy Parking: $12 / DAYBlue Garage: $19 / DAYRed Garage: $29 / DAYKXAN reached out to AUS Friday regarding why the increase is happening, as well as how it compares to other airports in cities of similar size to Austin. An off-duty LAPD officer died early Saturday morning after appearing to have crashed into the back of a semi-truck on the 210 Freeway in Glendora. The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. in the eastbound span of the 210 Freeway near Grand Avenue. Preliminary reports suggest that the semi-truck had broken down in the middle of the freeway and the off-duty officer’s car crashed into it."Upon arriving on scene, CHP personnel determined that it was a major injury collision," said CHP Sergeant Joel Holly. "At this point, the initial cause for the collision is still under investigation, however it appears that a rear end was involved." A man was hospitalized after being shot in the head in front of tourists on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Friday night.Police responded to Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue around 7:37 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department.When officers arrived, they found a 37-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his head just footsteps from the famous TCL Chinese Theatre, authorities said. Two suspects fled the scene - a Hispanic female and a Hispanic male, both in their 20s, police said.Police said the victim initially witnessed some sort of fight or argument between the suspects when he tried to intervene.That’s when the male suspect pulled out a gun and shot the victim in the head in front of the Hard Rock Café.The suspects ran off into the crowds of Hollywood Boulevard before officers arrived. Clear, sunny skies are in the forecast for Saturday, with wind gusts of up to 25 miles per hour expected Saturday afternoon and into Saturday night. According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will increase, and the region will remain dry through Sunday. Temperatures are expected to drop by the end of the weekend. “A cooling trend with strengthening onshore flow is forecast for early next week,” said NWS. Low clouds are expected in coastal areas, but they will make way for sunshine on Sunday. The California Department of Justice is investigating a fatal police shooting that occurred in Newark after police revealed Saturday that the suspects involved had a non-lethal air pistol.The shootings Thursday afternoon left one man dead and another injured and occurred as officers from Newark and Fremont say they were trying to apprehend a carjacking suspect. In the initial reports of the shooting, police didn’t say whether the suspects were armed or not.On Friday, police said the suspect had an air gun, which is a nonlethal toy gun that resembles a traditional firearm but shoots plastic pellets. They described it as a “full-metal airsoft pistol that is designed to look like a Baretta M9,” which can be purchased online.
